PORVORIM: Sports Minister Govind Gaude was cornered by ruling MLAs Ulhas Tuenkar from Navelim and Digambar Kamat from Margao over the lack of air conditioning, canteen and security, at the Rs 43 crore Navelim stadium. He said, athletes felt hot during National Games and make-shift arrangement was made by bringing fans.

There is no canteen facilities. Not even a bottle of water was available since there is no canteen there. There was also a possibility of theft there, since there was no security guard, Tuenkar said.

Margao MLA Digambar Kamat said he personally visits the indoor stadium for his morning walks and found that it is very hot in there since there is no AC. He said all modern indoor stadia have air conditioning.

MLA Nilesh Cabral suggested that large fans be installed indoors.

Sports Minister Govind Gaude said he would study the possibility of putting large fans. He also said he would consider the issues of installing AC, starting a canteen and putting security personnel.
