The Crime Branch of Goa Police at a press conference claimed that they have cracked down an International Job Scam spanning various countries, including India, Myanmar, Vietnam, Thailand, Laos and Cambodia. They arrested the accused Mohammad Haji aged 52 years, from Vijayapur Karnataka for luring people with high salaried jobs and then offering them low paying jobs.

Addressing media, SP Crime Rahul Gupta said that, in one of the incidence that came to light, one woman accused from Quepem, lured two victims with the promise of lucrative job opportunities in Thailand, offering a monthly remuneration of Rs 60,000. The victims left Goa on 14th February 2024 and landed in Thailand on 15th February 2024. However, upon arrival, they were taken to Cambodia and placed in a call centre job instead of the promised casino job. They came back to Goa in March 2024 after making medical excuses.

In another incident, accused Nashir Ahamad Tigadi from Karnataka, and Mohammad Haji, who runs "Excellent Services" recruitment agency in Mumbai, assured one victim a high-paying job in Cambodia with a monthly salary of Rs. 1,00,000. Upon his arrival at Phnom Penh, Cambodia, on 11th April 2024, he was taken to "Dana Technologies," a company involved in fraudulent activities, including creating fake social media accounts to lure potential victims into crypto currency trading scams. This victim came back in May 2024.

The accused Mohammad Haji s/o Rajabaksh, age 52 years, C/o Arif Avati, Hakim Chowk, Nagar Bawdi Colony, Vijayapur Karnataka from Golgumbaz Vijayapur Karnataka was arrested in the case.

Accused during the interrogation confessed that he with the collaboration with other associates in other parts of country, committed this offence. The bank accounts used in receiving money have been frozen.

Efforts are on to trace other accused persons to uproot the illegal network of recruitment. Mobile phones of accused have been recovered with incriminating evidence, Gupta said.
