The Global Konkani Forum demanded all the MLA’s to support the resolution of making Romi Konkani as official language of Goa. The resolution was passed by Cruz Silva during the assembly. The forum affirmed that this resolution should be supported as it tries to protect script and the language. The forum also mentioned that they desire for fundamental rights as per constitution and not fighting for grants.

Replying to a question, put forward by Cruz Silva and Venzy, Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant had said that there is no proposal to give equal status to Roman Script. Global Konknni Forum (GKF) stated that, it is the duty of the 14 elected MLAs representing the Linguistic Minorities of Goa, to put forward such a proposal. Over the last 36 years the MLAs from the minorities community, have only paid lip service, but have failed to address the injustice done to Roman Script, and it is high time, they realise their duties are to full fill the aspirations of the people who elected them to power. Today, every village Goa is rising in unity to demand equal status for Roman Script, by passing resolution in the Gram Sabhas, requesting the Linguistic Minorities Commission Delhi to stop this discrimination to Roman Script.

GKF demands that the Opposition and all the 14 MLAS from the minorities community, should meet and request CM Pramod Sawant, to pass a Government sponsored Bill, or pass the resolution put forward in the House by Cruz Silva, to give equal status to Roman Script, along with Devnagori, by amending the Official Language Act (OLA).

GKF also demands that all MLAs from the linguistic minorities community, to individually write to the Commissioner of Linguistic Minorities Commission Delhi demanding and end to the discrimination towards the Romi Konknni.
