Gold theft worth Rs 1 Lakh reported at Vasco; Suspect recorded on CCTV

A Gold ornament theft case worth Rs 1 lakh was reported from M S Lotlikar Jewelers at Vasco on Friday. The suspect along with his accomplice entered the store on the pretext to buy the jewelry but stole the Gold bangles amounting to Rs. 1 lakh under the staff’s nose. The staff and the owners came to know about the theft only when they were totalling up in the evening.

The incident took place approximately at 11.30 a.m. in the morning. The store owner discovered bangles missing that weighed about 11.2 grams later in the evening when counting the stocks. He quickly double-checked with the CCTV footage where the sleight of hand skill of the thieves were caught. CCTV surveillance captured the entire act.

According to the Jewelry store owner Kripesh Bandodkar, the suspect and his accomplice entered the store disguised and spoke in Hindi while donning a cap and sunglasses. At first, the suspects claimed to purchase little earrings for girls from the counter on the other side of the store. Later, they turned their attention to the bangles department, which was the scene of the theft, and they meticulously stole the gold bangles.

A report has been filed by the Jewelry store owner Kripesh Bandodkar against the alleged theft. Investigation is going on and more details are awaited.
