IAF Surveillance Aircraft Crashes Near Rajasthan's Jaisalmer; No Casualties Reported

An unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) crashed near Pithala village in Rajasthan's Jaisalmer district around 10:20 am on Thursday, with no reported casualties. The incident occurred approximately 30 km from Jaisalmer, close to Rozaniyon Ki Dhani.

Upon receiving the information, a team comprising fire brigade personnel, district officials, and Indian Air Force (IAF) officials promptly reached the crash site to assess the situation. The cause of the crash remains unknown and is currently under investigation.

The Indian Air Force issued a statement confirming the incident, "One Remotely Piloted Aircraft of the Indian Air Force met with an accident near Jaisalmer on Thursday during a routine training sortie. No damage to any personnel or property has been reported. A Court of Inquiry has been constituted to find out the cause of the accident."

Officials clarified that the aircraft, identified as a reconnaissance or surveillance aircraft, crashed near Bahal Ki Dhani of Sipla Gram Panchayat, Jaisalmer.

Khuhri Police Station Officer May Jabta was among the first responders to reach the scene, along with Air Force personnel. A formal inquiry into the incident has been initiated to determine the cause of the crash and gather relevant information.
