PORVORIM: Curtorim MLA Aleixo Reginaldo Lourenco raised the issue of high cases of kidney failure in Canacona and questioned what plans Health Minister had for early detection.
Reginaldo also raised the question of shortage of doctors.
Health Minister Vishwajit Rane admitted to the increasing cases of kidney failure due to various reasons. He called for lifestyle changes to be made by people and said his department was creating awareness on the same.
Rane said the GMC dean and Director of Health Service and others would be sent to New Delhi and he would create a Study Commission by August since the reports of previous committees on the Canacona kidney failure issue were inconclusive.
He repeated that govt would have to tweak the policy and get sanction from CM to recruit outside Goa doctors.
At this Fatorda MLA Vijai Sardesai shot back saying are you not getting sanctions. People should not suffer due to differences between you and the CM.
Rane replied that he had not said that he was not getting sanction from CM but that he needed sanction for recruitment of doctors.
