LOCAL DEMAND CLOSURE OF HIGHWAY AFTER LANDSLIDE AT BICHOLIM

Local had warned the concerned authorities not to throw open the road

BICHOLIM: There was a major landslide on the newly built Valshi- Vathadev bypass, Bicholim, on Thursday. Luckily no one was injured.

This is the third landslide after landslides which occurred in Malpem and Dhargal Pernem, last week.

The hill has been cut vertically. Locals claim they had warned the concerned authorities to inspect the road before throwing it open to public.

They stated that they had warned the authorities that they do not want a Malpem like landslide, but the authorities did not heed their warning.

After the landslide occured, they have now demanded that road road be closed and a proper audit be done before throwing it open to public. They stated that seven accidents have occured on the road.
