Mapusa Police Arrests Bus Conductor for Alleged Sexual Harassment

The Mapusa Police Station on Monday, successfully arrested 20-year-old Anuj Singh, a bus conductor from Cansa Board, Thivim, Bardez, Goa, originally from Uttar Pradesh following a complaint filed by a 19-year-old student. The victim, residing in Mapusa, who regularly commuted on the Thivim-bound bus for which Anuj Singh worked as a conductor, accused him of persistent sexual harassment dating back to when she (the victim) was in eighth grade.

The complaint, registered under Mapusa Police Station Cr. No. 216/2023, cites violations under Sections 354, 354-A, 354-D, and 506 (ii) of the Indian Penal Code, as well as Sections 8, 8(2) of the Goa Children’s Act, and Sections 4 and 12 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.

The Mapusa Police acted swiftly upon receiving the complaint, initiating an investigation headed by a dedicated team comprising LPSI Rupali Govekar, PSI Viraj Korgaonkar, HC Sushant Chopdekar, and LPC Tara Pednekar under the supervision of PI Viajy Rane and DySP Jivba Dalvi.
