The Mapusa Municipality undertook an encroachment drive within its jurisdiction on Wednesday. The drive began near the Bodgini temple and continued across various locations including the area near Alankar theatre wherein a number of fast food stalls stand. The municipality seized truckloads of items such as chairs, tables, stands etc which will not be returned. Chairperson Priya Mishal stated that the drive will continue every day, and if people continue to encroach, they will be fined.
Chief Officer Amitesh Shirvoikar stated that the municipality had put notices asking people to remove their encroachments.
