MARGAO: Margao Police have arrested above 50 year old resident of Navelim, for sexual assault on a minor girl on Saturday. The girl had apparently left home and was at the Margao bus stand when she approached him since her cellphone battery was dead.

The accused, Santosh Raikar, posed as a good Samaritan and offered to help the 16 year old girl. He asked her if she wanted any food and said he would take her to his house. When she agreed, he took her to Navelim on his two wheeler, according to Bailancho Ekvott President Auda Viegas.

Raikar allegedly told her to have bath and change while he would go out and get the food. The minor girl is reportedly a slow learner and fell into the man’s trap. When he returned he told her to take off her clothes and raped her, according to Viegas.

Thereafter on Sunday he left her somewhere in Margao. Meanwhile the parents of the minor girl filed a missing report. Some person informed the police about the girl, who was present in Margao. The Margao police took her to the police station and reunited her with her parents.
