Naval Officer Anurag Rajawat, accused in the New Vaddem vapour cloud explosion case, was granted bail on Wednesday. The incident, which occurred on Saturday, November 18, 2023 shook the entire state when a mysterious explosion in Vasco claimed the lives of Jaidevi Chauhan, 50, and Shivani Rajawat, the pregnant wife of Anurag Singh Rajawat.
Initially thought to be a routine cylinder blast, further investigations revealed that the explosion was, in fact, a gas vapour cloud explosion. Anurag Rajawat, the naval officer, was subsequently accused of plotting the incident, leading to charges of murder against him.
Anurag Rajawat's arrest and subsequent legal proceedings have exposed additional charges. Alongside the murder accusations, both Anurag and his mother are now facing charges of dowry harassment.
