No Vision , No Planning : Waste of Public Funds

"Sir, you have done a great job by digging the road which was completed by Hotmix only fifteen days ago. For that, we present you with this small bouquet of love" - Shadow Council for Margao

In Margao, a clear example of wasting public money has emerged due to poor planning by both elected officials and the administration. Just fifteen days after spending crores of rupees to hotmix carpet the road from ESI Hospital to KRC Station, it's being dug up again in multiple places to install a 1.50 km sewage pipeline underneath.

Savio Coutinho, the convenor of the Shadow Council for Madgaon, along with his colleagues, protested this irresponsible behavior of the administration with 'Gandhigiri'  at the excavation site. Coutinho even humorously presented a bouquet of flowers to the sewerage contractor, sarcastically applauding their work. He pointed out that just three and a half months ago, on October 28, 2023, the Mandgaon BJP MLA, Digambar Kamat, inaugurated the installation of a rumbler work on the same road, now buried under the newly laid hotmix carpet.

Adv Snehal Oscar, another member of the Shadow Council for Margao, expressed frustration at the lack of responsibility and planning shown by the authorities, especially when the pipeline got damaged during the digging. She questioned who should be held accountable for this, as now the pipeline needs to be shut down for repair, leaving the public without water.

Irene Fernandes from the shadow council accused the authorities of grossly misusing public funds by repeatedly redoing the same road and digging it up. She urged citizens to unite and demand accountability from their local representatives for such wasteful activities.
