PANJIM: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant has said this is the right time for the PRAWAH team to visit Kankumbi during monsoon, to see whether water is diverted to Malaprabha basin. This will expose Karnataka. The team will spend two days each in Maharashtra, Karnataka and Goa and see the violations. Sawant also hit out at the previous congress government for selling Mhadei and he took credit for filing the case in the Supreme Court.
“The Mhadei PRAWAH team will spend 6 days – two days in Maharashtra, two days in Karnataka and two days in Goa to inspect Mhadei. This is the right time. Our continuous demand was, to see if the water has to be diverted, it was necessary to go to Kankumbi and see if the water is going to the Malaprabha basin,” Sawant said.
“Karnataka has dug an underground canal and diverted the water to the Malaprabha basin, they will be exposed. People as well as Mhadei PRAWAH Authority will know this. This will be useful for us as a proof before the Supreme Court,” Sawant argued.
“We have impressed upon the Prime Minister the importance of Mhadei to us. Any decision will be taken by taking us into confidence. There will not be any injustice done to Goa,” Sawant assured.
Launching an attack on his critics he said it was the previous Congress government which sold Mhadei and it was he who filed the petition in the Supreme Court against Karnataka on the Mhadei issue.
