Pernem Police executed a successful raid on the Boomerang Resort in Ashvem, Mandrem, leading to the rescue of two victims aged between 23 to 24 years from Northern India. The victims were promptly placed in a Protective Home under the authorization of the Deputy Collector & SDM, Pernem Goa.

SDPO Pernem, Shri. Jivba Dalvi, disclosed that the raid, conducted on the evening of January 17, 2024, resulted in the arrest of the resort owner, Mr. Vijay Kumar Sarkar, a 44-year-old native of Jharkhand, and his assistant, Mr. Ajit Kumar Jha, hailing from Bihar.

Under the supervision of Jivba Dalvi, the raiding team included PI Shri. Sachin Lokre of Pernem PS, PI Shri. Narayan Chimulkar of Mopa Airport PS, and other personnel, in collaboration with ARZ NGO members, Smt. Juliana Lohar and Shayori Banerjee.

During the operation, the police not only successfully rescued two girls but also secured digital records and photographs of the victims, including evidence of online payments to the accused parties.

SDPO Pernem expressed suspicions that the accused were involved in organizing Mujra performances for wealthy customers. The performances allegedly involved young ladies dancing in the midst of male customers, with the subsequent exploitation of the dancers. The SDPO highlighted that customers with significant economic backgrounds would take the girls away to satisfy their desires.

CCTV footage and other pertinent documents were seized by the police, and the authorities plan to summon guests suspected of attending such events for further investigation.

SDPO Pernem also revealed that a letter has been submitted to the Magistrate to invoke Section 18 of the Immoral Trafficking (Prevention) Act 1956, seeking the sealing of Boomerang Resort, identified as a brothel.

Both accused individuals were presented before the Hon’ble Court of Judicial Magistrate First Class, Pernem, where they were remanded to 10 days of police custody. The police anticipate additional arrests in connection with this case.

The raiding team, consisting of dedicated personnel led by PI Sachin Lokre, PI Narayan Chimulkar, and several constables, continues its investigation under the supervision of SDPO Pernem Jivba Dalvi and SP North Nidhin Valsan IPS.
