Rickshaw catches fire near Dabolim airport; driver escapes miraculously

A commercial rickshaw caught fire in close proximity to Dabolim Airport on Wednesday. The reason for the fire is estimated to be short circuit in engine. Initially smoke was fuming out of rickshaw, later turning into intense blaze. Fortunately, no injuries were reported in the incident.

The rickshaw was in close proximity to Dabolim Airport, where the assistance for water support was provided. However, Fire personnel immediately reached the spot after intimation from the sources informing that a rickshaw caught fire in middle of the road posing danger to the pedestrian. 

Sources informed that the rickshaw bearing registration number plate GA 06 T 2777 was moving with lit fire, but they used their presence of mind by blocking its way by fling the stone in front of the rickshaw to stop the movement. Driver of the rickshaw informed that the rikshaw was empty and was on the way to load goods. 

Fire personnel informed that, they received a call at around 5pm in the evening about the fire incident, when they reached the spot, they spotted airport authority was a helping hand to douse of the fire. However, at the arrival of the fire personnel the fire was managed to get under control and avoid further damages. The loss has not been estimated yet. As the rickshaw was empty the total loss will be of the vehicle, he added.
