Addressing concerns about aerial bunch cables, Minister Sudin Dhavalikar disclosed that 50% of them have already been removed. However, the department has incurred losses amounting to Rs 150 crore due to these cables, with investigations still ongoing into the matter.

Minister emphasized that substantial changes are underway but would require an additional two years to manifest fully. Despite the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) being in force, necessary equipment kits have been distributed to all divisions.

"The transformation within the Power Department is a work in progress," Minister affirmed. "While we acknowledge the challenges, significant strides have been made towards modernization."

One of the key initiatives highlighted by the Minister is the ongoing underground cabling project, aimed at addressing power fluctuations. Once completed, this endeavor is expected to significantly enhance the reliability of the power supply.

Additionally, Minister underscored the importance of the Tamnar power project, stating, "Tamnar holds strategic significance for us. Even if sourcing from Karnataka faces obstacles, alternative avenues within the state and the Goa project infrastructure will ensure our energy needs are met."

Regarding infrastructure improvements, Minister provided a timeline, stating that the Goa project infrastructure is slated for completion by the end of August.

In response to recent incidents where lineman lost his lives during work, Chief Electrical Engineer (CEE) Stephen Fernandes urged against hasty blame on the Power Department. He emphasized the importance of understanding the facts and highlighted the department's commitment to providing adequate safety kits and gear to personnel.

"Blaming the Power Department without understanding the circumstances is unfair," remarked CEE Stephen. "Our priority remains the safety and well-being of our workforce."
