Smart City Development in Panaji Shows 90% Progress; Still 10 % Pending

Imagine Panaji Smart City Development Limited (IPSCDL) has reported that more than 90 per cent of the Smart City works have been completed in Panaji and Ribandar. The update came after a comprehensive walkthrough conducted with the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Goa, Pramod Sawant, on Saturday, where key sites in the capital city were inspected.

According to IPSCDL, significant strides have been made in sewerage and road works across various areas in Panaji and Ribandar under the Smart City initiative. The completion report reveals detailed progress in different zones:

Central Panaji Area:

  • Sewerage Pipeline: 7.40 km fully completed.
  • Manholes: 250 out of 251 completed.
  • Road Work: 3.50 km completed.
  • Restoration of Roads: Ongoing. Overall Completion Status: 99%

St. Inez Area:

  • Sewerage Pipeline: Entire 3.00 km completed.
  • Manholes: 72 out of 75 completed.
  • Road Work: 2.85 km completed. Overall Completion Status: 97%

Ribandar Area:

  • Sewerage Pipeline: 9.60 km completed.
  • Manholes: 280 out of 300 completed.
  • Road Work: 4.00 km completed. Overall Completion Status: 96%

Fontainhas Area:

  • Sewerage Pipeline: 2.20 km completed.
  • Manholes: All 73 completed. Overall Completion Status: 99%

Mala Area:

  • Sewerage Pipeline: 3.30 km completed.
  • Manholes: 109 out of 110 completed. Overall Completion Status: 99%

Miramar – Caranzalem Area:

  • Sewerage Pipeline: 2.80 km completed.
  • Manholes: 89 out of 90 completed. Overall Completion Status: 99%

Altinho Area:

  • Sewerage Pipeline: 450 meters completed.
  • Manholes: 10 out of 18 completed. Overall Completion Status: 78%

Eduardo J. Pereira, Chief General Manager of IPSCDL, expressed his gratitude, stating, "The  Chief Minister of Goa today received a first-hand, on-ground status report of the Smart City works in relation to the 31st May deadline. We have completed more than 90 percent of the works related to sewerage and roads, and we have done our best in the last couple of weeks to bring closure on works in various areas across Panaji and Ribandar. Work is ongoing to complete whatever is pending while also ensuring quality. This would not be possible without the support from the people of Panaji, the contractors and their teams, and the tireless efforts of the entire IPSCDL team led by the CEO & MD, Sanjit Rodrigues”.
