Member of Parliament South Goa Captain Viriato Fernandes on Wednesday met Union Minister for Road Transport & highway Shri. Nitin Gadkari and apprised him of the issues faced by villagers in Goa regarding National Highway expansion works at several locations. The locations include Loutolim, Nuvem, Chinchinim, Cuncolim, Bhoma village, etc. He has also highlighted the anxiety and concern of farmers concerning the construction of the proposed Borim bridge that will destroy the Khazans and agricultural land.

Capt Viriato discussed the possible solutions to the above issues & requested to take the main stakeholders viz. farmers and villagers into confidence and address their concerns.

Further, he sought time from the Minister to meet the delegation of Congress leadership of Goa & also affected villagers, during his visit to Goa next week.

The highway expansion works of Bhoma and Borim have been riddled with controversy where locals have opposed the alignment of the new proposed highway. The South Goa MP meeting the MoRTH Minister Nitin Gadkari has renewed hopes of a win-win solution to both the villages.
