The Meteorological Centre Goa on Monday predicted, light to moderate thunderstorms in several areas of North and South Goa districts within the next 3-4 hours. The thunderstorms are likely to bring light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunder and lightning. As of the current observation by the IMD, isolated thunderstorm cells have been detected over Sanguem talukas and are progressing towards the talukas of Salcette, Quepem, and Canacona.
It is expected that other talukas in the region will also be affected as the cloud formations generally move eastward. In addition to the thunderstorms, gusty winds with speeds of 30-40kmph are very likely at isolated places across the North and South Goa districts on June 5th, 6th, and 7th, 2023.
Residents and visitors are advised to take necessary precautions and remain cautious during the thunderstorm activity.
