In anticipation of the visit by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Goa on April 27, 2024, several traffic arrangements have been put in place, particularly around the vicinity of BITS Pilani Institute in Zuari Nagar, Sancoale.
The following traffic arrangements will be enforced:
Closure of NH 566 Section: The stretch from MES College Junction to Queenynagar Junction, both lanes, will be closed for all vehicular traffic from 13:00 to 22:00 on April 27, 2024, except for attendees of the event.
Diversions for Dabolim Airport/Vasco/Mormugao Traffic: Vehicles bound for Dabolim Airport, Vasco, or Mormugao will be diverted via the Major District Road of Queenynagar Circle - Birla - MES College Junction from Queenynagar Junction on April 27, 2024.
Diversion for Verna - Margao Traffic: Traffic heading towards Verna - Margao from Vasco will be diverted via the Major District Road of Zorint - Birla - Queenynagar Circle from MES College Junction on April 27, 2024.
Restriction on Heavy Vehicles: Heavy vehicles will not be allowed to move from 09:00 onwards on April 27, 2024.
Diversions for Heavy Vehicles: Heavy vehicles coming to Vasco will be diverted via Cortalim Circle - Chicalim Circle from Birla Cross Junction.
Closure of NH 566 Section: No vehicle movement will be permitted from MES College Junction to Queenynagar Junction on NH 566 on April 27, 2024. Heavy vehicles will be diverted via Chicalim Circle - Cortalim Circle - Birla Cross Junction from Dabolim Airport Junction.
Motorists are urged to cooperate with traffic authorities to ensure smooth traffic flow.
Alternate Routes to Dabolim Airport:
North (Panaji Side): Agassaim - Old Zuari Bridge - Cortalim Circle - St. Jascinto Island - Chicalim Circle - Dabolim Airport Junction.
South (Margao/Ponda Side): Birla Cross Junction NH 66 - Queenynagar Junction - Queenynagar Circle - Birla Market - MES College Junction - Dabolim Airport.
Alternate Routes from Dabolim Airport to Verna/Margao/Panaji:
Various routes including MES College Junction - Birla - Zuarinagar - Queenynagar Circle - Birla Cross Junction on NH 566.
Affected Traffic Flow:
· Dabolim Airport to MES College Junction on NH 566.
· Queenynagar Junction to Birla Cross Junction on NH 566.
· MES College Junction to Queenynagar Circle via Birla Market on MDR.
· Birla Cross Junction to IDC Verna Junction on NH 66.
Commuters are urged to plan their travel accordingly and use alternate routes suggested to avoid inconvenience during the VVIP visit.
