A family vacation to Goa took a devastating turn as one member of a Bangalore family drowned while swimming at Rajbag-Tarir beach in Canacona early Thursday morning.

Clement Stenley, a 29-year-old musician from Bangalore, lost his life in an accident while enjoying a morning swim with his parents and sister at Rajbag-Tarir beach. Despite the valiant efforts of life-savers, Clement could not be revived.

The family, consisting of Clement, his parents, and sister, had embarked on their Goa holiday in their own car on the 27th of May, seeking a peaceful retreat from the hustle and bustle of city life. They had been staying at Palolem before tragedy struck.

Eyewitnesses reported that while the family was enjoying the sea together, a sudden strong wave dragged Clement underwater, prompting his family members to raise an alarm. Prompt action by the Life-Savers saw Clement pulled from the sea, but despite their best efforts, he remained unconscious.

He was swiftly rushed to the Community Health Centre (CHC), Canacona, where medical personnel pronounced him deceased. The body has been sent to SGDH, Margao, for post-mortem examination.

Clement, a talented musician involved in a music school in Bangalore, was described as a vibrant individual with a passion for life. His father serves in the military, while his mother is a Nursing Superintendent in a hospital.

The Canacona police, under the leadership of LPSI Anjali Gaonkar and supervision of Canacona PI Harish Raut Desai, are currently investigating the incident.
