In a series of devastating incidents, four lives were lost in separate accidents across Salcete and Dhargal. The string of tragedies unfolded with two fatalities in road accidents, one involving a train mishap, and another claiming the life of a pedestrian.

The first incident occurred when a tempo driver collided with an electric pole in Chinchinim, resulting in his tragic death. Simultaneously, a two-wheeler rider lost their life in a separate road accident in Nuvem. Meanwhile, a woman tragically succumbed to injuries after being struck by a moving train while attempting to cross railway tracks in Majorda. Additionally, a pedestrian lost their life after being hit by a speeding taxi in Dhargal.

Further adding to the distress, a major road accident at Sucaldem-Chinchinim resulted in the death of a tempo truck driver and left two others injured, including a lady scooterist who sustained serious injuries and is currently receiving treatment at Goa Medical College, Bambolim.

The police informed that the ill-fated tempo, which was transporting fish, collided with an oncoming scooter before crashing into an electric pole, leading to the demise of the tempo driver. Despite the driver's unfortunate passing, authorities plan to register a case against the deceased for reckless driving.

These incidents add to the concerning trend of accidents in Goa, with a reported 2368 accidents until November, resulting in the loss of over 200 lives this year. The continuous rise in such tragic occurrences has cast a shadow of sorrow across households, replacing joyous moments with silent tears.
