RAIA: The YMCA All-Goa Major Ranking Table Tennis Tournament, held at the Indoor Stadium in Campal, Panjim, witnessed an exciting display of young talent in the junior boys section, culminating in a thrilling showdown between Aaron Farias and Chandan Caro in both the boys U-17 and U-19 categories.
Aaron Farias and Chandan Caro emerged as the standout players of the day, showcasing their skills and determination to reach the finals. Chandan Caro's remarkable performance had previously resulted in him reaching the final in the boys U-15 category, marking his third final appearance in the tournament. The road to the finals was paved with intense matches. In the boys U-17 quarter-finals, Aaron Farias outplayed Darren Duarte 3-0, while Rishan Shaikh overcame Surendra Chube with the same score. Atharv Dhulapkar edged out Khushal Naik 3-2 in a closely contested match, and Chandan Caro triumphed over Chinmay Bhakare 3-0.
In the semi-finals saw Aaron Farias securing a 3-0 win against Rishan Shaikh, and Chandan Caro defeating Atharv Dhulapkar 3-1, setting the stage for their final clash.
In the boys U-19 category, Aaron Farias advanced by defeating Dhruva Kamat 3-0 in the quarter-finals and Khushal Naik 3-1 in the semi-finals. Chandan Caro’s journey included a 3-0 victory over Surendra Chube in the quarter-finals and a 3-0 win against Atharv Dhulapkar in the semi-finals.
