RAIA: Agxem Sports Club secured a convincing 6-5 victory via the tie-breaker over Damdolem Sports Club to advance to the finals of the 1st Caniza Peixoto memorial football tournament, organised by Agxem Sports Club and played at St Alex Church ground, Curtorim, on Wednesday.
In an exciting semi-final match, Agxem Sports Club and Damdolem ended regular time with a 3-3 draw. Damdolem opened the scoring in the 6th minute through Ryan Fernandes. Agxem SC quickly responded, taking the lead with goals from Alroy in the 21st minute and Savio in the 23rd minute. However, Damdolem equalised in the 29th minute with a goal from Joy Hilario, leaving the score at 2-2 at halftime.
In the second half, Damdolem attempted to increase their lead but missed several opportunities. In the 34th minute, Ryan Fernandes scored again for Damdolem to take the lead, but Agxem equalised in the 37th minute with a beautifully placed shot by Alvito Gomes, ending the game in a 3-3 draw and forcing a penalty shootout.
In the resultant tie-breaker, Agxem Sports Club scored through Jovial Martins, Savio, and Milagres, while Damdolem's Freddy Hilario and Jhon Fernandes found the net.
Ryan Fernandes of Damdolem SC was adjudged man-of-the-match presented by Ovira.
Agxem Sports Club will face Cumborda SC in the 1st Caniza Peixoto Memorial finals on August 4.
