PANJIM: Bethany Convent High School, Sao Jose de Areal, thrashed Holy Spirit High School, Margao, 6-1 to move into the semi-finals of Independence Cup 1st All-Goa Inter-School U-17 football tournament organised by Verna Sports Club, at Verna church ground, on Friday.
Slanzen Endro scored four goals, while Joysley Gomes netted two goals. Mujawar Azzen Shaikh reduced the margin for Holy Spirit High School. Slanzen of Bethany Convent High School was awarded the man-of-match award by Johnson Abranches, former player of Verna Sports Club.
In the second match, Our Lady of Perpetual Succour High School, Cortalim, edged past Infant Jesus High School, Colva, 3-1 via tie-breaker to move into the semi finals. There was no score at full time.
Charles Lucas of Our Lady of Perpetual Succour High School was awarded the man-of-the-match award by Jolan D’Silva, general secretary of Verna Sports Club.
