MAPUSA/RAIA: Candolim Sports Club encashed on their chances to register a 2-0 win over Chapora Yuvak Sangh in the GFA’s First Division League North Division match played at Parra ground, on Sunday.

The highlight of the match was a brilliant brace from Candolim SC’s striker Sankit Jotkar, who scored a goal in each session of play on entering the 18-yard box.

Chapora Yuvak Sangh, who ascended after their marvellous display in last year’s Second Division, left their supporters crestfallen with Sachidanand Satelkar, Cyprian and Charles time and again failed to find the target.

At Guirim ground, Goa Velha edge past CDJ Ribandar by 2-1 margin. The teams were locked in a 1-1 draw at the breather.

It was Goa Velha's skipper Joseph Rodrigues who put his team ahead in the 28th minute minute of play with a neat placement 1-0.

However, CDJ Ribandar colts managed to level terms in the 34th minute through the boots of Durgesh Naik 1-1.

On crossing ends, both teams went all out in search of the winning goal which finally came from substitute Franky Oliveiro 2-1, to give full points for his team.

Sao Jose de Areal defeated Velsao Sports and Cultural Club 3-0 in the match played at Rosary ground, Navelim, on Sunday.

Rayman Fernandes, midfielder of Sao Jose de Areal was the star of the match with his dribbling, shooting power and number of assists to his teammates, while Rajat Malik, striker of Velsao SCC gave his best to his team.

Malik missed a chance to score in the second minute then Rayman’s long ranger failed to pop up into Velsao SCC’s net in the 4th minute.

Sao Jose de Areal netted the first agoal of the match through Salvin Fernandes’ header off Rayman’s corner kick in the 5th minute. Aryan Carvalho netted the second goal in the 20th minute. Sao Jose de Areal further inflated the lead through Sanvesh Palkar in the 61st minute.
