Candolim SC in last eight

RAIA: Candolim Sports Club edged out Sao Jose de Areal 4-2 via tie-breaker to move into the quarter-finals of 51st Custodio memorial football tournament organised by Raia Sporting Club at Raia panchayat ground, on Wednesday. 

The match started on a fast pace and within five minutes of play, Candolim SC’s Bhavesh Candolkar wasted three one to one chances, while Sao Jose de Areal’s Leo Gomendes and Cavin Soares also couldn’t capitalised on the opportunity that came in their way and both teams remained 0-0 draw at the end of regulation time. 

In the resultant tie-breaker, Candolim SC netted through Nikhil Naik, Aman Govekar, Ashley Fernandes and Rajat Chopdekar, while for Sao Jose de Areal, Bresal Viegas and Tyson Carvalho found the net. 

Krupesh Bandodkar, goalkeeper of Candolim SC, was awarded the man-of-the-match by Cynthia Fernandes.
