RAIA: The U-17 girls of Immaculate Conception High School, Dabal, secured the third place in the State U-17 Subroto Mukherjee girls football tournament, organised by the Directorate of Youth and Sports Affairs, at Santa Cruz ground, recently. They achieved the place defeating St Xavier’s Higher Secondary School, Mapusa, 2-1.
The match was tied 1-1 at halftime, with St Xavier’s HSS taking the lead before Sahana Gaonkar equalised for Immaculate Conception HS. In the second half, Sahana Gaonkar scored again, securing the match-winning goal for Immaculate Conception HS and clinching the third place.
Earlier, Immaculate Conception HS had defeated Don Bosco High School, Quepem, 3-0 in the semi-finals to advance to the District level final, where they lost to The King’s High School, Sao Jose de Areal, 2-0.
