RAIA: Navelim Sporting triumphed over Union of Chinchinim Villagers with a 4-1 victory, advancing in the 2nd Bruno Leitao Memorial Cup 2024, organised by Union of Chinchinim Villagers and played at the Chinchinim Church ground, on Sunday.
Union of Chinchinim Villagers aimed to score early, with Franky Olivero and Rowan Fernandes attempting to break through Navelim's defense. However, Navelim's defenders effectively prevented any scoring opportunities.
In the 24th minute, Navelim goalkeeper Jeet Gupta's direct kick resulted in a goal as Chinchinim's defenders and goalkeeper collided while attempting to clear the ball, giving Navelim a 1-0 lead. The score remained 1-0 at halftime.
Navelim adjusted their strategy in the second half, extending their lead with goals from Prestly Gomes (41st minute), Ronaldo Pereira (45th minute), and Velington Almeida (56th minute), making it 4-0. Senoy Olivero scored the lone goal for Chinchinim in the 50th minute, bringing the final score to 4-1.
Valinton D`Silva of Navelim Sporting was awarded the player of the match given by Adv Agnelo Furtado, Chinchinim communidade president.
