Neeza bags quadruple crown, Aaron wins triple

RAIA: Neeza Kamat and Aaron Farias stole the limelight achieving remarkable victories at the Ulhas Jewellers - BPS Major Ranking Table Tennis Tournament 2024 organised under the aegis of Goa Table Tennis Association, at the multipurpose stadium, Fatorda, on Monday. 

Neeza emulated the historic feat previously achieved by Tanisi Kirtani, emerging as the star player of the season’s opening tournament by winning the titles in the U-15, U-17, U-19 and women’s singles categories. 

Aaron Farias was equally impressive, clinching titles in the U-17, U-19, and men’s singles categories. 

The tournament also saw standout performances from other young talents. Among the boys, Yug Prabhu (U-11), Chandan Caro (U-13), and Atharv Dhulapkar (U-15) secured the titles, while in the girls’ section, Sachi Dessai (U-11) and Ishita Colaso (U-13) emerged victorious.

The finals results showcased a series of thrilling matches with exceptional skills on display. 

In the U-11 boys category, Yug Prabhu outsmarted Kavish Dalvi 3-0. in the U-13 boys category, Chandan Caro triumphed over Dhruva Kamat 3-0. Atharv Dhulapkar won against Chandan Caro 3-0 in the U-15 Boys category. 

Aaron Farias dominated the U-17 and U-19 boys, outplaying Chandan Caro and Rishan Shaikh 3-0, respectively. Later overcame Arvind Kumar 4-2 in the men’s singles. The girls’ section saw Sachi Dessai and Ishita Colaso win the U-11 and U-13 titles, respectively. 

Neeza Kamat continued her stellar run, outsmarting Pradnya Caro in the U-15 and U-19 finals, and Ishita Colaco in the U-17 and women’s finals. 

The tournament also featured competitive matches in the veterans doubles and veterans doubles elite categories, with Jesus D’Costa and Sanjot Sankalp and Ferdinand and Sameer Kapadi emerging as the winners. 

In the para singles events, Chetan Salgaonkar and Lloyd Fernandes claimed victories in the standing and wheelchair categories, respectively.
