Perpetual Convent HS, St Jude HS in quarters

RAIA: Perpetual Convent High School, Navelim, edged past St Joseph Institute, Chandor, 4-1 to move into quarter-finals of Founders Cup 2024 U-17 boys 9-a-side inter-school football tournament organised by Union of Chinchinim Villagers at Chinchinim church ground.

Vernon Cardozo opened the account for Perpetual Convent in the 20th minute. In the 22nd minute, Jassman Peixoto equalised.

Jack Pires doubled the lead for Perpetual Convent in the 25th minute. At half time, Perpetual Convent were leading 2-1. In the second half, Vernon and Jaden increased the lead for Perpetual Convent, 4-1.

In the second match, St Jude High School, Betalbatim, downed Auxilium High School, Benaulim, 2-1. At half time, both the teams failed to open an account.

At the start of the second half, Kuldeep put St Jude HS ahead. Soon, Jasseel Vaz scored the second goal. Auxilium High School reduced the margin through Joydon fernandes in the dying minute of the match.

Earlier, Bethany Convent HS defeated Infant Jesus HS, Colva, 6-5 via tie-breaker.

Aniket Kumar scored for Infant Jesus in the 19th minute to open the account. In the 22nd minute, Prison Mondal doubled the lead for Infant Jesus HS. Josley Gomes reduced the margin just before the half time for Bethany Convent.

At half time, the score was 2-1 in favour of Infant Jesus HS. In the second half, Mohamad Istiyaf increased the lead for Infant Jesus HS to make it 3-1. With the setback, Bethany Convent increased the pressure on Infant Jesus defence which paid off as Josely scored his second goal in the 15th minute. 

In the drying minutes, Bethany Convent equalised through Slone Tereza to make it 3-3. In the resultant tie-breaker, Josley, Steven, Slone scored for Bethany Convent. Only Aryan and Mohamad converted for Infant Jesus.

In the other match, The King’s School, Sao Jose de Areal, defeated Mount Carmel High School 2-0.

Ashton Rodrigues scored for The King’s School in the 14th Minute to make it 1-0. In the second half, Aloysius Fernandes scored to doubled the lead for The King’s School in the 13th minute.
