RAIA: Bethany Convent HS, Sao Jose de Areal will clash with Perpetual Succour Convent, Navelim in the finals of Founders Cup 2024 U-17 boys 9-a-side inter-school football tournament, organised by Union of Chinchinim Villagers and played on Chinchinim Church ground.
In the first semi-final, Bethany Convent defeated Rosary HS Navelim 4-3.
Both the teams started on an attacking note but could not penetrate through the defence. In the 10th minute, Afzal Bandari headed from a corner taken by Messi Rebello to give lead for Rosary HS.
At half time Rosary HS were leading 1-0.
In the second half, Bethany equalised through Josley Gomes in the 3rd minute.
In the 10th minute, Rosary increased the lead through Afzal Bandari to make it 2-1, in the very next minute Afzal scored again to make it 3-1 for Rosary HS. Bethany convent increased pressure on Rosary defence and Josley scored 3 goals in quick succession to make it 4-3 for Bethany Convent.
Josley Gomes received man-of-the-match award for his outstanding contribution.
In the second semi-final, Perpetual Succour Convent crushed Manovikas School, 5-0.
Jade Pires opened the account for Perpetual Convent to make it 1-0, Touzfique scored 2 goals, Vernon Cardozo, Akron Fernandes scored a goal each.
At half time the score was 5-0 in favour of Perpetual Succour.
In the second half, Manovikas tried hard to reduce the margin but Perpetual defence stood strong.
Tauzfique Gundar was declared man-of-the-match.
