RAIA: In the third quarter-final, Rosary High School, Navelim, downed St Xavier High School-Velim, 2-0, to move into semi-finals of Founder’s Cup 2024 U-17 boys 9-a-side inter-school football tournament organised by Union of Chinchinim Villagers at Chinchinim Church ground, on Tuesday.
In the 2nd minute, Rahul dribbled past St Xavier defence to score the first goal for Rosary HS. In the second half, Samuel D’Silva, goalkeeper of St Xavier saved the day with some spectacular saves to keep Rosary HS forwards at bay.
In the run of play, Rosary HS scored their second goal in the closing minutes of the match. Samuel D’Silva of St Xavier HS was the player of the match.
In the fourth quarter-final, Bethany Convent outplayed The King’s School 3-0 vie tie-breaker. At the end of regulation time, the score was 0-0.
In the resultant tie-breaker, Josely, Steven and Floyd scored for Bethany Convent and their goalkeeper came out with three saves. Bethany Convent goalkeeper Astroy Costa was the player of the match.
