RAIA: Rosary High School, Navelim, defeated Assumpta Convent High School, Sarzora, 2-1 in the Founders Cup 2024 U-17 boys 9-a-side inter-school football tournament organised by Union of Chinchinim Villagers at Chinchinim church ground, on Thursday.
In the 5th minute, Subinoy Dessai scored by a header from a cross of Ethan Leitao to give a lead for Assumpta Convent High School in the 12th minute. Sam of Rosary High School equalised with a clean finish. At half time, the score was 1-1.
In the second half, Rosary High School started to press Assumpta Convent High School defence and Messi Rebello scored in the 8th minute to give a lead. Assumpta Convent High School tried hard but could not equalise. Final score was 2-1 in favour of Rosary High School.
In the second match, St Xavier High School, Velim, outplayed Our Lady of Health, Cuncolim, 5-4 via tie-breaker. St Xavier High School started on an attacking note and Jonas’ shot deflected from Our Lady of Health’s defender and entered the goal to give lead to St Xavier High School.
At half time, St Xavier High School were leading 1-0. In the second half, Noorain Belki equalised for Our Lady of Health by a header from a corner kick of Mark Pinto. At the end of regulation time, both teams settled for 1-1 draw.
In the resultant tie-breaker, John, Jonas, Crizman, Alison and Elrich scored for St Xavier High School, while Mac, Mark and Noorain netted for Our Lady of Health.
