RAIA: In a thrilling match, Fr Agnel, Paroda, clinched a 3-0 win over Don Bosco Oratory, Fatorda, to advance into the quarter-finals of 33rd Super Soccer Tournament organised by United Boys of Dando, Colva, in memory of Joao Xavier Fernandes, at Dando ground, Benaulim, on Friday.
Fr Agnel started strong, controlling the first quarter of the match with exciting football. However, they faced a setback when Salvin Fernandes was sent off after receiving his second booking. Despite the numerical advantage, Don Bosco Oratory couldn’t capitalise. The first half ended in a goalless draw.
In the second half, Don Bosco Oratory attempted to leverage their extra man but failed to find their rhythm. Fr Agnel took full advantage, with Selton Fernandes breaking the deadlock in the 53rd minute and doubling the lead just three minutes later.
Anthony Dias sealed the victory with a solo goal in the 59th minute.
Selton Fernandes was named the man-of-the-match and received his trophy from Manoj Kesarkar, panch member of Cana-Benaulim Panchayat.
