MAPUSA: Sesa Football Academy proved to be too good as they trounced Guardian Angel SC 5-0 in the 2nd edition of late Bhausaheb Bandodkar Trophy organised by Goa Football Association at Duler Stadium, here, on Monday.

One minute of silence was observed on the 51st death anniversary of late Bhausaheb Bandodkar at the start of the match.

Sesa FA having lost their first match saw coach Charles Dias bring two changes in his Starting XI, goalkeeper Roanal Gaunkar and defender Akash Kudnekar.

At the other end, Guardian Angel SC under the guidance of head coach Riston Rodrigues played their first league match, with a young squad.

Sesa FA lads started earnestly where two close attempts by Chaitan Dabholkar and Thokchom Singh early in the match was saved by Guardian Angel SC’s goalkeeper Oswin Rodrigues.

However in the 11th minute, Sesa FA Omkar Shetgaonkar’s strong header brushed keeper Oswin gloves to find the ball enter the goal before striking the inner goal post, 1-0.

It did not take long for Sesa FA to double their lead where a diving header by new signing Clive Miranda of Aman Rajbhar’s cross left keeper Oswin rooted to the ground, 2-0.

In the 27th minute, Guardian Angel SC had their first good attempt at the rival goal where a 25-yard stinging shot by medio Clifton Rebello was brilliantly fisted for a corner by Sesa FA’s custodian Roanal Gaunkar. Just two minutes later, Sesa FA skipper Shridharnath Gawas scored a gem of a goal as he connected a half volley past keeper Oswin, 3-0.

At the strike of 45th minute, Thokchom Singh pumped in the fourth goal with a neat placement which hit the far post before entering the goal, 4-0.

On crossing ends, Sesa FA coach Charles brought in number of substitution where Clencio Pinto saw his first touch materialise for the fifth goal.

In another match, Goa Police SC and PAX of Nagoa played a goalless draw, at Chowgule ground, Margao.

From the start, both teams showed urgency to score goals but their goalkeepers were equal to the task to trot the both teams opportunities which came their way in both the sessions. Their forwards also made some good inroads but were not on the target to open the account.
