RAIA: United Club of Verna pipped Betalbatim SC 2-1 to move into the quarter-finals of 51st Custodio memorial inter-village football tournament organised by Raia Sporting Club at Raia panchayat ground, on Monday.
Both teams gave their best in front of nearly 500 spectators. Keith Rodrigues of Betalbatim SC missed a chance to score in the 15th minute. Soon, Clifton Rebello of UC Verna also missed the target by whiskers in 16th minute.
Antush Moniz of UC Verna opened the scoreline in the 40th minute but the joy was short-lived as Dickson Rogtao of Betalbatim SC equalised. Then UC Verna further inflated the lead through Antush Moniz in the 48th minute.
Punit Mehta presented the man-of-the-match award to Antush Moniz of UC Verna.
