Irineu Gonsalves’ latest tiatr, ‘I am Sorry’ will feature not only noted tiatr personalities but also noted Konkani singers and actors. The tenth tiatr by Irineu, ‘I am Sorry’ is conceptualized, written and directed by Irineu. The cast includes Avers Pereira, John D’Silva, Willy Silveira, Scully D’Souza, and many more talented Goan artistes and for the first time, Hema Sardessai, Oluv and Rajdeep Naik will be on the tiatr stage. This tiatr will be first showcased on May 25 at Hanuman Theatre in Mapusa.

Irineu says, “This will be my tenth tiatr and will be based on a love story which will turn into a tragedy. Tiatr is a Goan cultural heritage and it is our work to take care of it. The tiatr will also have digital projections. This tiatr has a beautiful story and I wish all Goans to watch it, especially women.”

Hema emotionally expressed that this will be her first tiatr. “When Irineu first told me the story, I readily agreed to it. All my life, I have lived for my Goan brothers and sisters and for our mother tongue Konkani and will continue to do so wholeheartedly,” said Hema.

They also requested the government to work towards protecting the heritage of Goa, especially the Konkani language. Hema said that now we have to work harder to increase the audience of tiatr. She has done many shows in Goa and has received a lot of love from Goans.

When questioned about whether the tiatr will have political songs, Irineu said that this tiatr won’t have any political songs but political songs are enjoyed by the Goan audience. “Tiatr is not only of the Catholic community, it is of all Goans. We have been accepted by all people and have even performed some tiatrs for some temples,” expressed Avers Pereira.

The tiatr will have seven shows in Kala Academy in Panjim and eight shows in Raj Bhavan, Margoa.
