Three youngsters, Holly Rodrigues, Jennifer Fernando, and Tracy Dias who have been recognised for their performances on the tiatr stage and have been winning accolades at different competitions, will be the recipients of this year’s Tiatr Academy of Goa’s Young Achievers Awards 2024. The awards will be presented on November 16 at 3:30 pm at the Black Box, Ravindra Bhavan, Margao. The function will be attended by Ester Noronha, a renowned theatre personality from Mangalore, Sharon Mazarello, a senior tiatrist and Anthony Barbosa, President of TAG.
Holly Rodrigues: A trained musician from Pilar Music School, Margao, Holly is known as the ‘Rockstar’ of the Konkani stage with his powerful singing. He has performed in numerous competition tiatrs by both Kala Academy and the Tiatr Academy of Goa, as well as in commercial tiatrs directed by prominent tiatr directors. He won the Kala Academy Kantaram Competition in 2018 and 2019, the 9th Children Tiatr competition by TAG in 2018 for Best solo for ‘Piki Piki Kazule’ by Marcos Gonsalves and in 2020, he won the Best choral, best trio and male singer for the 10th Children Tiatr Competition by TAG. He is also a two-time recipient of the Kantaram Scholarship.
Tracy De Calangute:
A composer, song writer and lyricist, Tracy Xaverina Dias, better known as Tracy De Calangute is one of the few youngsters who not only sang and acted in tiatrs but also directed her own tiatr, ‘Fulanchea Sangatak Kantte-i Apnnayat’ in 2017 at the age of 23. She made her stage debut in 2012 for the Tiatr competition organized by Tiatr Academy of Goa (TAG), and sung a song in ‘Moronn’ written and directed by Joaquim Dias for St Domnic Dramatic Troupe Merces. She has also sung in many musicals shows and has performed in Dubai, Kuwait and UK.
Jennifer Fernando: Coming from a tiatr family, since her debut in 2018 with late Mario Menezes’ tiatr, Jennifer Fernando quickly establishing herself as an actress and singer in Konkani theatre and film. Jennifer has starred in three Konkani films and one film has been selected for the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) 2024. She has worked with noted directors as Menino de Bandar, Franky Gonsalves, and Costantino Crasto. She has acted in tiatrs which have been performed in Mumbai, Karnataka, and Pune.
