Over development mutilates Biodiversity

Rapid development has brought about counter productivity at the cost of mutilating the ecosystems. This kind of rapid pace of development is becoming overtly untenable to human life, who the contrary require more of a balance in the form of ecological diversity and development. Under the hammer of irregular constructions diverse flora and fauna and large swaths of greenery are destroyed or simply eradicated. Some species of animals, insects and vegetation have gone extinct, difficult to be replaced and there are no chances to evolve over again.

Reckless country planning and implicit land conversions, brings in more dwelling condominiums, which does not augur well for existence of nature or health of human beings. The repercussions felt are tremendous, a great upheaval by which nature retaliates in far bigger reciprocal reaction, like what we have witnessed in the Wayanad, calamitous washout, wherein it had a devastating impact on several hundreds of human lives which were lost. Hilly terrains are becoming the latest target with rampant deforesting which are flattened with impunity, utter disregard for the delicate ecosystem inhabiting those terrains. Such destructive development is implemented with robust unplanned constructions in bringing about a variety of concoctions of concrete jungles comprising of houses, buildings, and allied built-up infrastructure.

Lakes and rivers are used to subtly deposit overflowing raw sewage, killing all residing aquatic lifeforms and algae. Politicians campaign during elections, pitching development to gaining our votes, mindless of unrestricted and unrestrained development which will have a profound and a detrimental impact on our environment. Man-made disasters abound, treated sewage with deadly toxic chemicals are intentionally let into water bodies destroying every lifeform and living organisms, like fish and other amphibians which inhabit these bodies and cannot tolerate the brunt of extreme toxicity leading to perils. Vision becomes perceivably short-sighted, devoid of crucial planning wherein the after effects are profoundly destructive. Impact on all biodiversity and ecosystems which are ravaged and beyond the chances of revival. These are crucial for human survival in an aesthetic pure environment that blends well with nature.

All living lifeforms dwell in harmony with nature and it’s biodiversity. The more the builders lobby destroy and displace them, the worst reciprocal effects we get. There should be a balance between nature and development which should be maintained. The insect population is enormous which dwell in these hilly terrains, there are beetle, ladybugs, worms, frogs, bats, wild boar, crocodile, turtles etc all involve in a clean-up or aid other species to upkeep the environment. This should be delicately handled and not randomly bulldozed in order to protect and sustain the ecosystem and biodiversity with utmost care. We need to be surrounded all the time by these, to extract their saleable or tangible benefits . The returns are huge, that cannot be seen with the naked eye, but they work to enhance our well being, with robust health. In recognition and maintaining will benefit human mental health and wellbeing the sustenance of nature is of paramount importance. For a full on development continuing at a pace which it has been going on by destroying nature and all that it provides will mean killing the goose that lays the golden egg.

They all play a vital part in the biodiversity a role that is already negatively affected by high footfall and general disconnection from nature.

We become more attuned to technical devices and unnecessary development as our awareness is redirected away from the very being that supports us - the planet. Are we serious about wildlife preservation or just paying lip service to it? Respectfully although all nocturnals and most other wild life are a protected species, it does not prevent laws that protect them from being subverted, when their roosts and habitat interrupt development opportunity.

Climate change is already beginning to take its toll, some birds are seen shifting their nesting sites significantly contributing to the loss of certain species like cranes, cygnets, hedgehogs, and partly displacing the reptilian world and other animals. Nature with all its ecosystems are the bedrock of millennia civilizations and has passed down for sustaining life which man needs more of them than any other modernization goals on our planet .
