1.20 crore square metre land was opened for development under CM Pramod Sawant

PANJIM: Congress party on Monday sought to dismiss the claim that all land conversion were done during the Congress regime. Addressing the press on Monday, Vice President Sunil Kawthankar said that 1.20 crore square metre land was opened for development under CM Pramod Sawant.

Elaborating details of his claim, Kawthankar said when Sawant was Chief Minister and Forest Minister between June 2021 and September 2021, Sawant set up a committee to review and reverse private forests that were demarcated under the Araujo Committee.

The Committee appointed by Forest Minister Pramod Sawant reverted 271 survey numbers for development. This amounted to 1.20 crore square metre land

This was a well-planned move with Delhi builders. This will be worse that the Regional Plan 2011 which was stopped by the people. The social and cultural face of Goa will change with the influx of outsiders. This will not only be an ecological and environmental threat,  but also an existential threat he asserted.
