PANJIM: The All India Trade Union Congress (AITUC) has called upon the State government to make sufficient budgetary allocations for implementation of the recommendations of the Seventh Central Pay Commission to all the panchayat workers working in various villages panchayat across the State.
The AITUC leaders also demanded that the government should pay 34 months pending arrears to Kadamba Transport Corporation Limited (KTCL) employees, restore Provident Fund to 12 per cent to KTCL, procure 300 new diesel buses to service all routes, including the inter-State routes.
They also sought for regularisation of KTCL drivers, conductors and allied workers and to regularise salaries of PWD workers and pre-primary helpers.
Speaking to reporters, AITUC general secretary Christopher Fonseca demanded that the government should take measures to stop retrenchment of workers in many companies across the State and to start dedicated transport services for the convenience of women working in industrial estate. He demanded a comprehensive State labour policy in the State.
Fonseca charged that the government had not reconstituted the Goa State Labour Advisory Board for the last 15 years while, the Goa State Contract Regulation and Abolition Board and Minimum Wages Board were not activated. The government has no labour policies, he said and demanding revision of minimum wages for workers.
AITUC president Prasanna Utagi and secretary R A Mangueshkar were also present.
