ARAMBOL: In a rare act of honesty, Pramod alias Haresh Mayekar from Arambol handed over an iPhone worth Rs 1.3 lakh to Mandrem Police which he found on the beach during his morning walk on Thursday.

Mayekar told O Heraldo that he first tried to trace the owner by publishing a post on social media but in vain.

After failing to trace the owner, Mayekar handed over the phone to Mandrem PSI Pravin Simepurushkar. PSI Simepurushkar informed that two complaints have been registered with regards to missing iPhones. The owner of the phone is from Pune, who later asked his friend to pick up the same.

The police and villagers have praised Mayekar for his honesty. Mayekar is husband of Arambol Deputy Sarpanch Anupama Mayekar.
