MARGAO: MARGAO: Air passengers, who had booked flights that were to either arrive or depart from Dabolim Airport, are concerned as they have been told that the flights will land or leave from Mopa Airport and not Dabolim.
While this applies only to those who had booked their tickets in advance, the passengers are upset over the change in airport given the hardships they will face in travelling to and fro from Margao given the high expenses involved in hiring taxis for the same.
Those from South Goa in particular are upset. In case, Alex Rodrigues who was travelling from Bangalore to Goa in the first week of January was told now that his flight will land at Mopa even though he specifically wanted to reach Dabolim.
“Will this be the future where we stay in Salcete but have to travel all the way to Mopa in Pernem to get our flights,” said Rajesh Vaigankar, who also had the airport venue changed despite attempts to protest this.
Another passenger said, “I was told by his airline that my booking from Dabolim airport was cancelled. The message I received stated that the flight for which the booking had been made would not depart on that day and I should take the money back.”
He had booked two tickets for Goa-Mumbai-Dehradun in the first week of January but after multiple inquiries, he was informed that the airline had decided to cancel the flight on the same day and at the same time. While he lodged a complaint about this, he added that other passengers have also had this experience.
