PANJIM: The by-elections to 10 wards of ten panchayats recorded a voter turnout of 79.90 per cent, while polling in the Benaulim Zilla Panchayat by-poll was 52.12 per cent.
Ten wards in the 10 panchayats, which went to polls on Sunday, Ward No. VII in Cundaim Panchayat recorded a voter turnout of 89.53 per cent, followed by Ward No. II in Volvoi Panchayat (93.98 per cent), Ward No III in Querim Panchayat (74.86 per cent), Ward No. XI in Borim panchayat (83.28 per cent), Ward No. V in Rachol Panchayat (77.97 per cent), Ward No. II in Seraulim panchayat (70.57 per cent), Ward No. I in Assolna panchayat (60.87 per cent), Ward No. II in Cudnem Panchayat (95.06 per cent), Ward No. II in Xeldem Panchayat (85.09 per cent) and Ward No. X in Socorro Panchayat (73.23 per cent).
In the Benaulim Zilla Panchayat by-poll, of 2,0129 eligible voters, 10,492 voters exercised their franchise. There were 27 polling stations for the by-polls. Counting of votes will be held on June 24, 2024, the State Election Commission (SEC) said.
