MARGAO: In a significant initiative aimed at empowering senior citizens, the Chinchinim-Deussua panchayat, in collaboration with the Forum for Senior Citizens of Chinchinim and supported by Helpage India, conducted a Digital Safety Training Guide for elders.

The training session was designed to equip seniors with essential skills to navigate the digital world safely and confidently. With the increasing use of technology in everyday life, it is crucial for senior citizens to understand how to protect themselves online from scams, fraud, and privacy issues.

Participants engaged in interactive workshops that covered topics such as recognizing phishing attempts, securing personal information, and utilizing social media safely. The initiative received positive feedback from attendees, many of whom expressed gratitude for the valuable information provided.

“We believe that technology should be accessible to everyone, regardless of age, Our goal is to ensure that our senior citizens feel safe and empowered to use digital tools.” Sarpanch Frank Viegas.

“The event reflects a growing commitment to fostering an inclusive community where seniors can thrive in a digital age. Plans for future sessions are already in the works, with the aim of reaching even more elders in the region,” said Viegas.

“Helpage India is a leading NGO that work tirelessly for the welfare of older persons in India, advocating for their rights and providing support through various programs,” he added further.

“The Forum for Senior Citizens of Chinchinim is dedicated to addressing the needs and concerns of the elderly in the community, promoting their well-being and active participation in society,” Viegas concluded.
