MARGAO: The I.N.D.I.A Bloc kick-started its campaign for the Lok Sabha elections in South Goa with the Congress party's South Goa candidate Capt Viriato Fernandes  saying, "It's time to free Goa from BJP once and for all."

Several leaders of the alliance parties accused the BJP government at Centre and in the State of working against the interest of the public.

Candidates Capt Viriato Fernandes and Adv Ramakant Khalap (North Goa) along with other leaders paid floral tributes at the Martyrs Memorial and statue of Dr Ram Manohar Lohia to mark the beginning of their election campaign.

Capt Viriato alleged that the ‘evil eye’ of BJP is on South Goa which has resulted in destruction of environment, forest and wildlife. BJP wants to close Dabolim airport and grab every inch of land in Goa.”

Congress president Amit Patkar said, “Revolution has started today to permanently remove the dictator Modi-led BJP government from power and install a pro-people INDIA government. I am confident that Goa will ensure victory of both our candidates.”

“It was Tuesday on June 18, 1946, when Dr Ram Manohar Lohia and Dr Juliao Menezes launched the Goa Revolution movement from the Lohia Maidan. Today is Tuesday and we have gathered to launch a movement to start a revolution against the dictatorship of BJP,” said Yuri Alemao.

Prashant Naik said, “This fight is between 100 Kauravas and 5 Pandavas. We have a retired naval officer as a candidate who is ready to sacrifice his life for the country.”
