PONDA: A shocking turn in a cash-for-government-job scam occurred when the body of 51-year-old Shridhar Satarkar, a resident of Nalle Keri-Ponda, who was grilled by the Mardol Police last week, was found hanging to the tree in a jungle at Mardol.
According to Mardol Police, the deceased, who worked as a peon at the Goa State Scheduled Castes & Other Backward Classes Finance & Development Corporation Ltd, was missing since October 30. Shridhar’s body was found in a decomposed state.Inquiry revealed that the two-wheeler found parked by the roadside was registered in Pooja Naik’s name.
The deceased leaves behind his wife and a minor daughter.The police conducted the panchanama and sent the body to the South Goa District Hospital, Margao, for post-mortem examination.
Incidentally, Shridhar was interrogated twice by the Mardol Police last week in a fake govt job scam last month.According to police sources, Shridhar had taken a substantial amount of money from his relatives and friends to hand over the same Pooja for a government job.
The complainant Gurudas Gaude stated that in 2021, on two different occasions Shravani alias Pooja Naik, posing as government servant, induced the complainant to pay Rs 7 lakh for providing his son a job as LDC in the Transport Department.
The complainant said that he paid Rs 4 lakh through one Minu Gaude first and later the accused person induced the complainant to pay Rs 18 lakh towards giving his son a job as a Junior Engineer in PWD and accordingly he gave Rs 10 lakh thereby dishonestly cheated him of total amount of Rs 14 lakh towards his son’s recruitment.
Earlier, the Mardol Police seized five high-end cars from Pooja’s possession.Even Chief Minister Pramod Sawant had stated that Pooja made eight foreign trips and has flats in her name.
