PANJIM: In a major development, the Enforcement Directorate has attached immovable spacious land in Village Socorro, worth Rs 3.19 crore in the matter of alleged illegal acquisition of land of Comunidade of Serula.
Sarpanch of Socorro Village Panchayat Sandeep Vazarkar, former attorney of Comunidade of Serula Agnelo Lobo and Shivdas Vazarkar are amongst many under the scanner of the ED sleuths.
The ED has informed that it issued provisional attachment order to attach 7,975 sq mts of land belonging to Vazarkar and other members of Vazarkar family under the provisions of Section 5 of Prevention of Money Laundering Act, 2002 (PMLA).
ED initiated investigation under PMLA on the basis of FIR registered by Goa Police under Sections 419, 420, 467 and 471 of IPC against the accused on the basis of complaints lodged by members of Managing Committee of Comunidade of Serula.
“During the course of investigation, it was revealed that Vazarkar and his brother Shivdas hatched a conspiracy to fraudulently acquire the aforesaid attached property belonging to Comunidade of Serula by filing a fraudulent mutation application to the office of Mamlatdar, Mapusa, Bardez, in the name of their deceased father late Arjun Mahadev Vazarkar, and subsequently transferring it in their name, along with other family members of Vazarkar family,” said an official.
Investigation by ED revealed that the application for mutation was submitted in the name of a deceased person, the documents submitted along with the application were forged, NOC issued by the former attorney of Comunidade of Serula was in violation of the rules prescribed under ‘Code of Comunidades’ and no permission from the State government was taken, as mandated, for transferring such property belonging to Comunidades. Further investigation in the matter is under progress.
