PANJIM: The State government on Wednesday transferred Mardol PI Mohan V Gaude, who was the investigating officer in the killer Mercedes case, to a line posting. Now he has been posted at the Security Unit.

Director General of Police (DGP) Jaspal Singh had initiated an inquiry against Gaude for allegedly failing to act against Aam Aadmi Party (aap) State President Adv Amit Palekar for presenting a “dummy driver” and trying to mislead the investigation into Banastarim drunken driving case, which had claimed three lives and left same number of people severely injured.

The High Court of Bombay at Goa too had made strong observations against the Mardol PI.

''The material on record makes it crystal clear that all the offences, namely destruction of evidence, giving false information and harbouring the real offenders were committed in the presence of the Mardol police station in-charge and the police did nothing,'' the additional court said.

Strong remarks made by the Court in its order while hearing Amit Palekar's bail hearing, which only O Heraldo reported, too could have played a part in the transfer of PI Gaude.

Besides Gaude, the government transferred 11 other police inspectors and posted them at various police stations across the State, with immediate effect.

PI Diago Gracias, who was earlier posted at Police Headquarters, Panjim, was transferred to Cuncolim Police Station; PI Harish L Gawas, who was earlier at SB Centre Bicholim, was transferred to Escort Cell, Mapusa; PI Navin P Dessai, who was  posted at Escort Cell, Mapusa, was transferred to SB Centre, Bicholim; PI Sanjay J Dalvi, who was with Security Unit, was transferred to TC Margao.

PI Gautam A Salunke, who was with TC Margao, was transferred to PHQ Panjim, PI Devendra V Pingle, who was with Cyber Crime Police Station, was posted to GRP E Coy; PI Anant P Gaonkar, who was at Porvorim Police Station, was transferred to Goa Police Welfare Society, Altinho; Pl Rahul T Parab, who was at Siolim Coastal Security Police Station, was transferred to Porvorirm Police Station.

PI Sandeep A Kesarkar, who was with PTS Valpoi, was transferred to Siolim Coastal Security Police Station, PI Satish V Gawde, who was with the Goa Police Welfare Society, Altinho, has been transferred to Mardol Police Station and PI Vikram M Deykar, Crime Branch, Ribandar, has been given additional charge of Cyber Crime Police Station.

The transfers were made on the recommendation of the Police Establishment Board, the order stated.

Govt reinstates four suspended police officers

PANJIM: The government on Tuesday ordered the reinstatement of suspended police officers and posting of six police personnel, including a Police Inspector and a Police Sub-Inspector.

According to the order, PI Nolasco Raposo has been posted at PTS, Valpoi, PSI Narayan Pinge at Sanguem

Police Station, Head Constable Sandeep L Parab at Siolim Coastal Security Police Station, Constable Mahadev Naik at Fatorda Police Station.

Constable Amrut Nagvekar has been posted at Dabolim Airport Police Station and Police Constable (Driver) Marcus Gomes at SB Centre, Panjim.

Calangute PI Nolasco Raposo was placed under suspension, as ordered by the then Director General of Police (DGP) for his purported inability to handle the series of attacks in his jurisdiction in 2021.

A departmental inquiry in 2021 had indicted PSI Narayan Pinge alias Rushal of bigamy, fraud, cheating, possessing disproportionate assets and violation of conduct rules.

The inquiry against PSI Pinge was initiated on a complaint filed by a Vasco woman alleging she was duped and cheated by the officer.

Head Constable Sandeep Parab and Police Constable Mahadev Naik were suspended in 2022 after they were charged with assaulting and inflicting grievous injuries on Adv Gajanan Sawant, while he was posted at the Porvorim police station
